A Sample of Final Page Spreads

The Exhibition Space

The illustrations were thumb-nailed and sketched in Procreate, then printed out and traced onto watercolor paper for the final painting. The traditional watercolor texture was important to ground the book in the natural world.

Final edits were done in Photoshop and Procreate.

The physical process book features a screen-printed book cloth split fountain cover (quite the mouthful), and was bound using a wire spiral.

All the Other Birds

October 2024–May 2025 - 9 months

All the Other Birds follows a young Mockingbird and her insecurity driving her to try to become another bird. After failing to become another bird, she finds satisfaction in the power of her own abilities.

The story features 32 pages of traditionally painted watercolor illustrations with luscious textures and an aerial message of self-confidence.

With my background as a writer and an illustrator, a children’s picture made perfect sense for my senior thesis. It was a welcomed challenge that I wanted to test my abilities on, not only in the visual side, but also my capabilities to follow through a self-administered schedule and get it done before a hard print deadline.
