The Cornish College of the Arts Writing Center, where I worked as Peer Consultant, had this big and ugly green wall in the back. It was the first thing that a student would see when they entered the room. I hadn’t met a single person who liked that shade of green, which can only be described as sick green. What started as a pipe dream to visualize an end to the sick wall became a real mural project over the course of 8 weeks.

Those in the space wouldn’t have to see literal writing objects to set the mood, and instead let the natural world inspire their writing. The mountain in the background is a spin on the Writing Center’s motto: Writing is a process, share it with us, turned into Writing is a process, grow with us. The design is a love letter to the writing process, not just the final result. I led a team of painters to start painting in October 2024, and it was completed in early November 2024.
