November Rain
October 2025
watercolor, india ink
November Rain is an illustration honoring the leaves of autumn but in a uniquely Pacific Northwest way. When the leaves change their color in the fall, there is this small window of time when they are still on the tree before Oregon’s rains inevitably wash them down to the ground.
During an especially rainy weekend, I illustrated this collection of leaves with raindrops adoring the gaps as a nod to that connection. The Japanese Maple tree in my front yard blanketed the ground in a carpet of vibrant red leaves after a night of heavy rain. In a particularly dark season, the leaves glow in my memory.
